DOS Celebrates First Anniversary

The Dominion of Sayville celebrated its first "Dominion Day" today, an unofficial holiday that celebrates the DOS's establishment as an autonomous region of the Kingdom of Powhatan.

The Emperor-King, Governor-General, and Prime Minister released brief statements on the Powhatan and CSR Discord servers to celebrate the occasion, which have been quoted below:

Statement from Thomas Bainbridge, Emperor-King of Powhatan:

As your the [sic] Monarch of Powhatan, and your Monarch, I would like to take the time today to thank you all for being a part of your wonderful Dominion, and by extension, our Kingdom of Powhatan. I look forward to another excellent year of the Dominion!

Happy Dominion Day!

In addition to the statement above, which was released on the CSR's Discord server, the Emperor-King released another statement on the Powhatan Discord server:

Citizens of Powhatan,

Today we celebrate Dominion Day, which marks the day the Dominion of Sayville Act was signed. I would like to congratulate the Dominion and her Residents on another excellent year!

Furthermore, by my right as the High King of Powhatan, I do hereby declare Dominion Day a national Holiday as Sayville Day, to be celebrated through this realm.

Thomas I, High King.

Statement from Theodore Porter, Governor-General of the Dominion of Sayville:

As a new resident of the DOS, I still feel like I have much to learn about this community and its people but I love to know that the Dominion is flourishing so beautifully and becoming a true paradise for myself and others and wish to share my feelings of enjoyment towards this Dominion and its people. So to all fellow residents new and old, thank you for being a part of this great Dominion and being amazing people I have got to know. Happy Dominion Day!

Statement from Charles Burgardt, Prime Minister of the Dominion of Sayville:

"Dominion Day" is an annual holiday in the Dominion of Sayville that celebrates its establishment as an autonomous region of the Kingdom of Powhatan via the Dominion of Sayville Act. Since the DOS was established on February 23, 2020, today is the first time such a holiday is being celebrated. I wish all DOS residents a happy Dominion Day and look forward to the progress our Dominion will make in the coming months!

The Summer in Review

As Summer comes to a close, the SBC reflects on some of the notable events that have transpired in the Dominion and our fellow associates in the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions these past few months. Explained below are some of the noteworthy events that occurred in June through early September. New CSR Flags and Coats of Arms Starting in late Spring and early Summer, CSR regions began redesigning their flags to incorporate symbolism more representative of their communities. Central among these was a modified version of the traditional purple-white-gold Pan-Sayvillian tricolor, which served as a basis for the flags of the Kingdom of Sayville, Kingdom of West Sayville, and even the Commonwealth's flag. These designs were released to the general public on June 13, 2020, with the Empire of Sayville releasing their own redesigns a few days prior on June 6. The Dominion of Sayville opted against redesigning their Red Ensign (the Dominion's "officially unofficial" flag).

Political Activism on the Rise in Macronational Sayville

Earlier this month, Vincent Vertuccio (a prominent macronational activist in the Sayville area and resident of the micronational Dominion of Sayville), held an informal roundtable on macronational Sayville's history, demographics, and social issues relevant to its community members. The event offered micronational Sayvillians a chance to learn more about their macronational counterparts, especially regarding social and political issues. The roundtable was held in the backdrop of the upcoming US presidential election, an event that has interested many in the community. From Black Lives Matter protests to Back the Blue marches, macronational Sayvillians have taken a keen interest in political activism, especially among those who believe now is an opportune moment to advocate for change in the area. Activism is also present on social media, where community members -- especially teenagers and young adults -- post about political issues that concern them. While their comments are emblem

CSR Officials Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Representatives from the Empire of Sayville, Kingdom of Sayville, Kingdom of West Sayville, and the Dominion of Sayville signed a memorandum of understanding this past Tuesday. The memorandum clarifies the Dominion of Sayville's status in the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions and the Sayvillian micronational community. It was drafted in lieu of amendments made to the Treaty of the Sayvilles in January, a treaty the DOS is unable to sign given its non-sovereign status. The agreement recognizes the Dominion as "a legitimate, albeit non-sovereign, Sayvillian region and micronation" that "is to be treated as an equal member of the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions, except in areas where Dominion and/or Powhatan law stipulate otherwise." It also states that "Officials from the Dominion of Sayville are to be afforded the same dignity..." as those from other Sayvillian regions in CSR discussions.
