Hrafnarfjall Withdraws From GUM, MicroWiki

In a conference held on Hrafnarfjall's Discord server, the Emperor-King of Powhatan (acting as Hrafnarfjallian monarch) withdrew Hrafnarfjall's membership in the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM). He also announced his intention to distance Hrafnarfjall from MicroWiki in response to inappropriate comments/actions and a lack of civility among prominent members in the community. The Emperor-King released the following statement, summarizing his government's views on the matter:

"Yesterday, 27th October, Hrafnarfjall took the decision to exit the Grand Unified Micronational and distances from the MicroWiki sphere. This is due to past and ongoing incidents of drama and unprofessionalism. Furthermore, the distancing from MicroWiki as a website is due to the incidents of Transphobic and other hateful headlines being allowed to be placed on the MicroWiki front page.

For residents of the Kingdom of Powhatan and the Dominion of Sayville, I wish to reassure you all that this will not cause any changes for Powhatan or the Dominion, and things will continue as normal.

Onwards and to the future, my friends."

The Summer in Review

As Summer comes to a close, the SBC reflects on some of the notable events that have transpired in the Dominion and our fellow associates in the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions these past few months. Explained below are some of the noteworthy events that occurred in June through early September. New CSR Flags and Coats of Arms Starting in late Spring and early Summer, CSR regions began redesigning their flags to incorporate symbolism more representative of their communities. Central among these was a modified version of the traditional purple-white-gold Pan-Sayvillian tricolor, which served as a basis for the flags of the Kingdom of Sayville, Kingdom of West Sayville, and even the Commonwealth's flag. These designs were released to the general public on June 13, 2020, with the Empire of Sayville releasing their own redesigns a few days prior on June 6. The Dominion of Sayville opted against redesigning their Red Ensign (the Dominion's "officially unofficial" flag).

Political Activism on the Rise in Macronational Sayville

Earlier this month, Vincent Vertuccio (a prominent macronational activist in the Sayville area and resident of the micronational Dominion of Sayville), held an informal roundtable on macronational Sayville's history, demographics, and social issues relevant to its community members. The event offered micronational Sayvillians a chance to learn more about their macronational counterparts, especially regarding social and political issues. The roundtable was held in the backdrop of the upcoming US presidential election, an event that has interested many in the community. From Black Lives Matter protests to Back the Blue marches, macronational Sayvillians have taken a keen interest in political activism, especially among those who believe now is an opportune moment to advocate for change in the area. Activism is also present on social media, where community members -- especially teenagers and young adults -- post about political issues that concern them. While their comments are emblem

CSR Officials Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Representatives from the Empire of Sayville, Kingdom of Sayville, Kingdom of West Sayville, and the Dominion of Sayville signed a memorandum of understanding this past Tuesday. The memorandum clarifies the Dominion of Sayville's status in the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions and the Sayvillian micronational community. It was drafted in lieu of amendments made to the Treaty of the Sayvilles in January, a treaty the DOS is unable to sign given its non-sovereign status. The agreement recognizes the Dominion as "a legitimate, albeit non-sovereign, Sayvillian region and micronation" that "is to be treated as an equal member of the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions, except in areas where Dominion and/or Powhatan law stipulate otherwise." It also states that "Officials from the Dominion of Sayville are to be afforded the same dignity..." as those from other Sayvillian regions in CSR discussions.
