Michael Pitre, former Governor-General of the Dominion of Sayville, resigned this evening after expressing an interest in playing a more active role in government by serving on the Executive Council.
The Governor-General is the viceregal representative of the Powhatan monarch and is a largely ceremonial post that serves as a symbol of the Powhatan monarchy's presence in the DOS. Mr. Pitre is succeeded by Theodore Porter, who took office after being appointed by HI&RM The Emperor-King on the advice of the Powhatan government.
Outside of the Dominion of Sayville, Mr. Porter is the Duke of Ottis in the Duchy of Ottis, a constituent state of the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon.
Charles Burgardt, Prime Minister of the Dominion of Sayville, released the following statement soon after Mr. Porter's installation as Governor-General:
I'm pleased to announce that Theodore Porter has been officially installed as the new Governor-General of the Dominion of Sayville by HI&RM The Emperor-King of Powhatan, effective immediately. It's expected that Letters Patent reflecting this change will be issued soon. I congratulate the new Governor-General on assuming this position and thank his predecessor, Michael Pitre, for his service to the Dominion of Sayville and Kingdom of Powhatan.
